SAOIRSE: 'WHO DAT KID E.P.' INFO: Who Dat Kid is a five track e.p. from Irish rapper "Saoirse" of hip hop group Habits. 20 year old Saoirse aims to fully represent the Irish scene in his music, a mainly American dominated artform. The first and title track of the c.d. is a rite of passage for most emcees, the basic "make yourself known" track whic points out the artists stance, views and relevance to the music. The music for the track in an obvious Doors sample which has been re-invented for the 21st century. This is just the basis of a hip hop song. Up next is Da Stix, a song which chronicles life in small town Ireland in a humerous and inventive manner. The beat has a very grass roots feel with a catchy guitar riff and up beat mood. Ships, an ex girlfriend ode of lost love, is third on the listing. With the Al Green sample and the chorus lifted from Mase's What You Want, the track journeys the paths after the split and thus helps to wipe the hands clean. Dream on, a tune from the imaginary world of the playboy side of Saoirse, bases experiences of vast sexual encounters with famous ladies and combines with a laid back beat and catchy hook. The last song is a collaboration with the group he started out with, habits. The track is just a meeting of minds with no direct goal but to represent themselves singularly with an anthemic chorus. Habits are Ra Skillz, Decal, Dj Treble and Saoirse. For more info contact habits@hotmail.com |
