METABOLIX
"Done and Dusted" e.p.
March 2002
Press Release
Formed little over 6 months ago, Metabolix were
initially an informal rabble but soon blossomed into
one of the nascent Irish hip hop scenes brightest
hopes. Realising they all shared a common
interest.intelligent, non-cheesy hip hop.they were
soon recording their own music, the fruits of which
are in your possession.the 'Done and Dusted' e.p.
'Done and Dusted' combines top quality battle rhymes
with straight up beats, the end result sticking to the
underground hip hop blueprint without taking itself
too seriously.
Lets start with the beats.
DJ Teknique, when not getting his fingers dirty buying
second hand records can either be found watching
Neighbours or tending to his prize winning garden. For
making the music Teknique relies on a trusty
MPC2000xl. There's no keyboards for this man or as he
would put it himself: 'I don't play that wack sh*t,
yo.'
The lyrics.
Doobious, having the misfortune to hail from Ennis, is
based in Cork while his asylum application is being
processed. His country brogue makes an appearance on
two of the tracks on the e.p. His ambition, or so he
says, is to make a guest appearance on the Popstars
album, having narrowly missed the cut earlier in the
year.
Chance, when asked for a quote for this press release
initially denied all knowledge of the 'Done and
Dusted' e.p and on further interrogation said 'I was
young and I needed the money.'
So there you have it.
